  1. Patterns for Next-Generation Database Systems PANDA http://www.cti.gr/RD3/DKE/panda/index.htm P. Vassiliadis, 6/2/2002

  2. General Description «… We claim that the term pattern is a good candidate for generic representation of novel information types. PANDA Working Group will study current state-of-the-art in pattern management and explore novel theorical and practical aspects of a pattern-based management system (so-called, PBMS)...» http://www.cti.gr/RD3/DKE/panda/index.htm

  3. General Architecture http://www.cti.gr/RD3/DKE/panda/index.htm

  4. Data Model Q. Processing Storage Structures PBMS a-la DBMS Visualization http://www.cti.gr/RD3/DKE/panda/index.htm

  5. PBMS a-la DBMS • Currently, we target 3 position papers: • State of the Art • Data Model  DBLAB! • Query Processing • Pending: • Storage Structures • Visualization http://www.cti.gr/RD3/DKE/panda/index.htm

  6. Technicalities • Identification of the difference between a data- and a pattern- based management system (DBMS vs.PBMS) through a detailed study of related research. • Support of partners’ basic research at PBMS theory and implementation, through meetings and visits toconferences. • Dissemination of basic research results through publications (maintenance of a TR series), organizationof two workshops and a WWW site. • Support of partners’ efforts on applying PBMS theory in real needs on novel data collections (movingobjects, time series, image and multimedia databases), through the establishment of an IndustrialAdvisory Group (IAG). http://www.cti.gr/RD3/DKE/panda/index.htm

  7. PANDA Participants Coordinator:   Computer Technology Institute (CTI), Dr. Yannis Theodoridis Participants:  • Athens Univ. of Economics and Business (AUEB), Dr. Michalis Vazirgiannis • MIT GmbH, Dr. George Tselentis • Nat'l Technical Univ. of Athens (NTUA), Prof. Timos Sellis • Univ. of Athens, Prof. Sergios Theodoridis • Univ. of Bologna, Prof. Paolo Ciaccia • Univ. of Konstanz, Prof. Dr. Daniel Keim • Univ. of Milano, Prof. Elisa Bertino http://www.cti.gr/RD3/DKE/panda/index.htm
