HEAD QUARTERS HOTELS To enable the SA Government to make accommodation available to all delegations attending the conference the following Head Quarters Hotels have been identified: • Durban Hilton • The Royal • Protea Hotel Edward • Beverly Hills Sun Inter-Continental • Holiday Inn Durban Elangeni • The Riverside • Holiday Inn Garden Court North Beach • Raya Hotel Balmoral • Holiday Inn Garden Court Marine Parade • Zimbali Lodge • Quarters Hotel

  5. HEAD QUARTERS HOTELS/ continue... The allocation of accommodation was done in such a manner that there would be a fair regional balance in each HQ hotel, I.e. African States Asian States Eastern European States Latin American and Caribbean Island States Western European and Other States The number of delegations per hotel (according to the available number of rooms) are as follows: • Durban Hilton 33 • The Royal 36 • Protea Hotel Edward 10 • Beverly Hills Sun Inter-Continental 11 • Holiday Inn Durban Elangeni 51 • The Riverside 12 • Holiday Inn Garden Court North Beach 12 • Raya Hotel Balmoral 9 • Holiday Inn Garden Court Marine Parade 6 • Zimbali Lodge 9 • Quarters Hotel 3

The allocation of confirmed Heads of State in HQ hotels are as follows: • Durban Hilton • SA President • UN Secretary General • Nigeria • Palestine • Uganda • The Royal • Democratic Republic of Congo • Latvia • Rwanda • Senegal • Venezuela • Protea Hotel Edward • SA Deputy President • Beverly Hills Sun Inter-Continental • President of Poland • Holiday Inn Durban Elangeni • Algeria • Bosnia and Herzegovina • Republic of Congo • Quarters • Togo

  7. HEAD QUARTERS HOTELS/ continue... The following different room categories have been identified to accommodate Heads of State or Government or Heads of Delegations: • Presidential Suites • Only 5 available in HQ hotels: • 1 at Durban Hilton – allocated to President Mbeki; • 1 at Protea Hotel Edward – allocated to Deputy President Zuma; • 2 at Beverly Hills Sun Inter-Continental – 1 allocated to the Head of State of Poland and the other to the Head of Delegation from Austria ; and • 1 at Holiday Inn Durban Elangeni – allocated to the Head of State of Algeria • Suites • Different types available in total at HQ hotels 98 • Executive Rooms • Available in total at HQ hotels 100

  8. HEADS OF STATE OR GOVERNMENT The South African Government will offer the following hospitality to all Heads of State or Government attending the Conference: • One Presidential/ suite for each Head of State or Government – depending on availability. • In addition to the cost of accommodation, the South African Government will also meet the personal expenses of Heads of State or Government in respect of: • Meals and beverages. • Laundry and dry-cleaning services. • Telephone and facsimile calls within South Africa. • Two additional rooms only • These services are provided to Heads of State or Government from the day of arrival in Durban until the day of departure. • All other expenses will be for the account of each delegation.

  9. DELEGATIONS ACCOMMODATION The South African Government will make available a total of 5 rooms to each of the delegations attending the conference (at delegations expense) in the mentioned HQ hotels. The accommodation will consist of: • One suite/ executive room for each Head of Delegation. • Four standard type rooms. • In addition one Security Officer and one Liaison Officer for each delegation in the HQ hotel (allocated close to the delegation). • All other expenses including the cost of accommodation will be for the account of each delegation. Additional accommodation will be made available to delegations, however, this may not be in the same hotel.

STATUS OF ACCOMMODATION ALLOCATIONS Confirmations on accommodation bookings (as on 17 August) are as follows: Total rooms booked for the WCAR 4 503 (including +/-1000 NGO Total rooms booked for the NGO Forum 1 533 Total number of rooms booked 6 036 Rooms still available on data base +/- 2 000* Total rooms for specific Media 147 Total rooms for National Institutions and other interested parties (Voices of Victims) 180 * These rooms are of a very low standard and are not recommended for use by the WCAR delegates
