  1. Building Lego Houses!

  2. James May – Full Size Lego House

  3. Outline the outer walls of your house Outline the floor plan of your house Leave a space for the outside door and spaces to represent interior doors Don’t forget to leave spaces for doors!! Step 1: Outline floor plan and outside walls

  4. Step 2: Add windows to the outside walls

  5. This is important because it makes it easier when adding furniture that is taller than one unit high Step 3: Build up the walls to two rows high

  6. Don’t worry about putting too much detail into your furniture – if you know what it’s supposed to be, that’s good enough! Step 4: Add furniture and details to the rooms inside

  7. Step 5: Build the walls up until they are level with the top of the door and windows, then add one more row on top of that.

  8. Step 6: Using pieces that are two units wide, build a roof by slowly moving in towards the center.

  9. Bedroom Bathroom Kitchen Couch Doors & Windows Basic Requirements for a Lego House

  10. What are the six steps to building a Lego House? What are the basic requirements for a Lego House? Review!

  11. In groups of 5 or 6, you must work together to build your own Lego House. You will only need to build the exterior walls and the roof – do not worry about the interior Be sure to use teamwork skills – everyone must contribute in some way Because of time constraints, you don’t have to use the entire base for your house You will be given a mark out of 5 based upon completeness, creativity and structural stability (e.g. your roof isn’t falling in) You should have more than enough Lego in your set to complete your house, but extra Lego is available if you need Team House Building!

  12. What were the benefits of working in a group? What were the difficulties? • What was easy to build? What was more difficult? • Do you think there are any other features that should be added as a basic requirement? Questions to consider
