  3. Finding the Compass for Leadership Dependence on God in prayer is essential to victory. Ex. 17:9-15 • The one who prays holds the rod of God’s power. • Prayer turns the tide in the battle. • The flesh soon wearies in prayer.

  4. Finding the Compass for Leadership • We need others to help support our prayer life. • God wants to establish reminders for our prayer life – the book and the altar.

  5. Finding the Compass for Leadership Knowing God is the foundation of life and ministry. (Exodus 24:9-17) • The potential of knowing God is based on His revelation. • The opportunity of knowing God is available to all believers (19:12-13, 21-25; 24:1-2; Heb. 12:18-24).

  6. Finding the Compass for Leadership • The trauma of knowing God is caused by His AWESOME glory. (19:16,18-19; 24:9; 16-17) • The provision for knowing God is His grace through sacrifice (24:3-8; Jn. 1:14, 16-18).

  7. Finding the Compass for Leadership • The joy of knowing God is a life of fellowship.

  8. Finding the Compass for Leadership • Came near (24:2) • Ate and drank (24:11) • Delegated other responsibilities (24:14, Acts 6) • Took the time (40 days and nights! 24:18)

  9. Finding the Compass for Leadership The consequences of sin are devastating. (Ex. 32:17-39) • Sin is an affront to God’s exclusive claim to our worship (32:1-6) • Sin is a rebellion that deserves God’s wrath (32:7-10)

  10. Finding the Compass for Leadership • Sin is a distorted testimony to the watching world (32:11-14) • Sin is a bitterness from breaking God’s laws (32:15-20) • Sin is a deception that weakens character (32:21-24)

  11. Finding the Compass for Leadership • Sin is an indulgence that leads to death (32:25-29) • Sin is a damnation that requires atonement (32:30-35)
