  1. WELCOME TO YOUR SENIOR YEARCLASS OF 2015!!

  2. Going to a 4 year University/College Straight From High School • In planning the high school courses remember MOST colleges/universities have minimum admission requirements: • Must have a minimum of 4 math courses beginning at Math I and ending at a math higher than Math III • Must have a minimum of 2 levels of the same foreign language • Must have a minimum of a 2.5 Grade Point Average • For most schools, admissions tests are required: Either SAT or ACT • Minimum SAT (Reading + Math) = 800 • Minimum ACT (Composite) = 17 • Most colleges recommend 2 test scores • (either 2 SAT or 2 ACT or one of each)

  3. Specific University Requirements • Please note, South Carolina schools also require an extra lab science and an art class for admission into most of their colleges. • The University of Georgia has also added the science requirement this year. • See the college website for details.

  4. ACT Test Dateswww.actstudent.org $54.00 test with writing; add $24.00 for late fee; add $47.00 stand-by

  5. SAT Test Dateswww.collegeboard.org $52.50 with writing; add $28.00 for late; add $46.00 for stand-by

  6. Sending Test Scores • Official scores must be sent directly to colleges from testing websites by the student. • School counselors cannot send the scores nor are they placed on the transcript. • Students may choose to send scores to four colleges at no additional cost when registering for test. • $$ There is a cost to send the scores to colleges after the test has been taken.

  7. FEE WAIVERS • Available for those who qualify for free-reduced lunch. • Detailed information can be found on the testing agency websites. • If a waiver is used for testing, waivers for college application fees can also be obtained. • See your school counselor for questions.

  8. Two-Year College Applicants SAT/ACT are not needed for community college admissions! Most students sit for the AccuPlacer test for PLACEMENT purposes only. This is taken at any local community college. If a student has an SAT or ACT score, this could assist with academic placement and scholarship eligibility .
