  1. Introduction to Cavendish Group China's Renewable Energy Sector Growth China will play a key role in solving the global climate challenge. China's Government wants to use and develop Renewable Energy sources, such as Solar / Wind power, to reduce the thick air pollution generated by expensive traditional sources such as oil and coal. The 2005 China Renewable Energy Law provides incentives such as fixed rate tariffs and carbon credits to Renewable Energy companies. China is already the leading Renewable Energy producer in the world in terms of installed generating capacity with plans to double the proportion of Renewable Energy to 15% by 2020. China has seen investment of $12bn in Renewable Energy – second only to Germany. 3. Overview • The Renewable Energy market in China has unlimited potential and is poised for massive growth, as it is a priority market identified as a key beneficiary of China’s 585 billion USD Fiscal Stimulus Policy.China is also predicted by the International Energy Agency to receive approximately 23 percent of global investment in renewable energy between 2005 and 2030 (about $1.2 trillion). Such investment is being strongly encouraged by China’s government. The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the country’s primary macro-economic planner, has targeted renewable energy to make up 10 percent of China’s total energy consumption by 2010, and 15 percent by 2020, compared with 7.5 percent in 2005.The NDRC has set the following clear Renewables-specific Power Generation Capacity targets for this push: • Solar to reach 2 GW by 2011 (15x more than in 2008) and 20 GW in 2020, compared with 70 MW in 2005 • Hydro power to reach 190 Gigawatts (GW) by 2010 and 300 GW by 2020, compared with 115 GW in 2005 • Wind to reach 10 GW by 2010 and 30 GW by 2020, compared with 1.3 GW in 2005 • Biomass capacity to reach 5.5 GW in 2010 and 30 GW in 2020, compared with 2 GW in 2005 • Renewable Energy Technology - China is the only journal in its field legally sending information into China. The magazine has been granted the Economic Information Agency’s (EIA) official “Kan Hao” license which allows us to operate a subscription service in China. • Published in both Chinese and English in a format that combines attractive design with the very highest production standards, Renewable Energy Technology - China is the official journal of the Chinese Renewable Energy industry.
