New teacher hires • Of the 116 Teachers Hired: • 10% are minorities • 70% have at least a Masters’ degree • 79% had previous teaching experience • 49% have five or more years of teaching experience • 21% are starting their teaching careers in ACPS • 46% were hired for the elementary level • 47% were hired for the secondary level

Benefit Updates Leave Benefits • Newly mandated leave benefits create some inconsistencies • Staff is currently assessing how best to administer benefits to all employees, regardless of which VRS plan may apply: • Looking at modifications to our leave program (accrual, sick leave bank) • Providing short-term/long-term disability benefit to all employees • Market data • Employee engagement

Wellness Initiatives • 2013-14 Programs • Launched BeWell Albemarle website • Lose Well – 6 month comprehensive lifestyle change / weight loss program • Onsite flu vaccination clinics in over 50 locations • Mobile Mammography - 5 locations in 2013 • Making Connections – Wellness, Safety & Benefits fair and presentations • Sponsored and promoted Men’s and Women’s Four Miler Training programs • Promoted Move2Health Move 30 minutes Every Day (TJHD / CAO) • Purchased and placed 20 AEDs in school and government buildings • Established CPR / AED / First Aid training program for ACPS employees (ARC) • Health promotion / education campaigns on various topics • Going Forward • Giant is new flu vaccination vendor – clinics will be offered at over 50 locations this fall • UVA Mobile Mammography has a new unit coming with 3D technology – County locations are • going to be scheduled in March 2015 • New Move2Health 5 a Day Fruits and Veggies Challenge
