  1. An Exegesis of John 3:3, 5 Does it teach Holy Spirit Baptism?

  2. JOHN 3:3.Unlessa manis born(γεννηθῇ, GENNETHE, first aorist passive subjunctive of GENNÁO, “be born or begotten”) again(ἄνωθεν,ÁNOTHEN, “from above”)… ____________ GENNETHE ÁNOTHEN, “born from above”; spiritual birth; heavenly birth

  3. JOHN 3:3.…he cannot (οὐ δύναται,OU DÚNATAI, not possible for him to) see(ἰδεῖν, IDEIN, aorist infinitive) the kingdom of God (τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ Θεοῦ, TÈN BASILEÍAN TOU THEOU). ______________________________ The new birth is necessary because the natural man cannot enter the kingdom of heaven by any other means.

  4. JOHN 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born of water and Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God! _____________________________________________________ “BORN OF WATER” (γεννηθῇ ἐξὕδατος, GENNETHE ÉX HÚDATOS, “born from, or out of water”- Strong’s Hebrew & Greek Lexicons)

  5. ἐξ, ÉX, “from, out of [a place, state, time or cause]”; “when used in composition, it gives the general import of completion” (Strong’s Hebrew & Greek Dictionaries).

  6. “God sent forth his Son, born of (ÉK, out of, from) a woman”(GALATIANS 4:4). ____________________ “He that is born of (ÉK, out of, from) the flesh is flesh” (JOHN 3:6). ___________________ These pews are made of (ÉK, out of, from) wood.

  7. NO! HINDI! SAAN! NYET! Does the phrase GENNETHE ÉX HÚDATOS, “born from, or out of water,” mean “baptized in water?”

  8. No babies are born IN their mother’s womb!

  9. Babies are born OUT of their mother’s womb!

  10. “BORN OF WATER” DOES NOT MEAN “BAPTIZED IN WATER” (1) Rebirth, or becoming a new creature, does not happen AT baptismin water, that is, at the very point where the body is immersed in water.

  11. PAUL COMPARES BAPTISM TO A BURIAL ROM. 6:4, “We were buried therefore with him through baptism unto death” ROM 6:5, “We have become united with him in the likeness of his death..”

  12. The creature BURIED in the grave is still the old creature, DEAD, waiting to be RAISED TO LIFE.

  13. We Are Dipped As Sinners Who Are Dead IN Sin

  14. And United With Christ In The Likeness Of His Death Through Baptism

  15. “BORN OF WATER” DOES NOT MEAN “BAPTIZED IN WATER” (2) Rebirth happens AFTER one rises out of the watery grave of baptism.

  16. “Like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walkin newness of life”(ROM. 6:4)

  17. W A T E R Resurrected with Him Rom 6:3-4 Do you not know that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him through baptism unto death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.” Raised to Life Buried with Him Shared His Death

  18. Hallelujah! Raised From the Watery Grave of Baptism We Become New Creatures in Christ

  19. (3) WE ARE NOT “BURIED IN NEWNESS OF LIFE”!

  20. RATHER THE BIBLE TEACHES THAT WE “WALK IN NEWNESS OF LIFE”!

  21. No, because GENNETHE, “born,” does not mean“baptized”! Does the Bible say that “being born in Spirit” means “baptized in the Spirit”!

  22. (4) γεννηθῇ ἐξὕδατοςκαιπνεύματοςis imperative and is therefore a command. We have said that “baptism in the Spirit” is a promise and not a command. To say that the phrase means “be baptized in water and in the Spirit” is wrong interpretation.

  23. (5) “BORN OF WATER AND SPIRIT,” γεννηθῇ ἐξὕδατος καὶ Πνεύματος, is only one kind of rebirth, a birth of both water and Spirit.

  24. It is a state one enters into as he rises from the watery grave of baptism. In that state he enters the kingdom of much privileges and greater service, of which Jesus Himself is builder and king.

  25. John 3:3-5 came to be enforced beginning in acts 2! • When the church-kingdom came and when the gospel in its fullness was first preached. • It is a law parallel with MARK 16:15-16, MATT. 28:18-20 and LUKE 24:46-47.

  26. GODhead Holy Spirit was poured on all flesh. Holy Spirit came upon them. Holy Spirit fell on them. The Apostles, the 3000, the Samaritans, the Gentiles, Paul, the Ephesians, etc. The Church Through the Ages These are all “manners” of receiving the Holy Spirit’s power or influence! Laying on of hands Baptized in Holy Spirit πληρόω with the Spirit Gift of the Holy Spirit Gifts of the Holy Spirit The whole church, being God’s temple on earth, is indwelt by the Holy Spirit even NOW!
