  1. Monday, December 5Today’s Objective: Make inferences about text and use textual evidence to support understanding. • WU: Read your book for 10 minutes. • Night scavenger hunt • HW: Read to the end of chapter 5 by tomorrow. • Book Fair tomorrow!

  2. Tuesday, December 6Today’s Objective: Make inferences about text and use textual evidence to support understanding. • WU: Book Fair • Night discussion over ch. 3-5 HW: Ch. 3-5 quiz tomorrow On the first day of Christmas, my teacher gave to me… Jolly Ranchers!

  3. Group Discussion • Speak one at a time. • Use small voices. • Reference the text. Don’t rely strictly on memory. • EVERYONE SPEAKS. Go around the table in the order I specify. • Disagreement is okay! Just saying “I agree” alone is not okay. Always add to what has been said. • No one speaks more than 30 seconds at a time.

SAR Reminders • Your words - present tense • Underline Book Titles • No I think or I believe • Try to embed quotes • Citations: • “quote”(#). • No punctuation inside the quotation unless it ends in ? Or ! • Put the number only inside the parentheses – no p. or page • Period after the parentheses

Analysis of a passage: Complete questions 1-4 today: • 15 minutes alone • 15 minutes in teams • 15 minutes of clarification with me HW: Finish the book by Tuesday. On the third day of Christmas, my teacher gave to me … stickers!
