How to Reset an HP Color Cartridge

Whenever you refill HP color ink cartridges, it is always necessary to rest the cartridges. There is a chip that every HP color cartridge contains which is essential for communicating with the printer. This chip indicates when the ink in the cartridge gets low. It is this chip that tells the printer that the ink in the cartridge is running low and further gives the low ink warning. This warning would still be displayed after you have refilled the cartridges and it is necessary that you reset the chip. <br>

Keep the cartridge in front of you in such a way that the copper strips are facing you. • Then place a piece of tape on the top of the contact in the second column. • Once you have put the tape, place the cartridge back in the printer. Ignore the error message that would be displayed and print a test page. • Now remove the cartridge from the printer and leave the tape on it. Then place another tape over the top contact in the sixth row.

  4. Once again, insert the cartridge back into the printer and while ignoring the error message print a test page. • Now retrieve the cartridge from the printer and then take off the tape that you have put. • Now when you place the cartridge back in the printer, the ink level should be shown as full.
