  1. Workshop 2DEDP APPRAISAL

  2. Region/Division shall be given a copy of a sample DEDP – Division Situational Overview/Analysis which has the overall description of Division performance, needs and opportunities in the following: A. Pre-elementary B. Elementary C. Secondary D. Alternative Learning System 1

  3. 3 • Situational Analysis - Suggested Outline • Cause and Effect Analysis (including diagrams) • Forecast of Future Situation • Review of Current efforts (programs/projects) and their gaps • Opportunity Analysis (SWOT)

  4. 2 Using the checklist/outline as guidelines, analyze the situational overview • Segmentation • Problems, needs, strengths and opportunities clearly described? > Are there supporting analysis? • Has forecasting been made? • Best practice/not so good practice

  5. 4 Organize/present your analysis in this format:

  6. 5 You may divide the group and assign work by components (pre-elementary, elementary, secondary, ALS) Post outputs at the walls. Each group will have the use of manila paper, meta strips, permanent markers, scissors, masking tape 6 2 Hours for this workshop

  7. The groups then will take turns in presenting their outputs; what has been mentioned should not be repeated 7 8 A synthesis will be made after all outputs are presented

  8. General Comments • Data Mapping • Difficult to locate the problem • No coherence in statements • Accuracy of data • No cause-effect analysis (streams analysis) • Description of programs/projects – no correlation to situational analysis • No forecasting • No illustration or tables presented to support/highlight trend • Tables should be substantiated with analysis and not mere narrative discussion • No linkage between formal and non-formal

  9. Workshop 1: General Comments Preschools No data mapping No forecasting Inconsistency and inadequacy of data (not updated data) Attributions backed up with data Pre-elementary to preschool education No data on preschool teachers, curriculum, classroom size, etc (vis-à-vis standards)

  10. Elementary No evidence of cause-effect analysis No segmentation technique used There was no analysis on performance indicators Inconsistency in data

  11. Secondary No forecasting Inconsistency in data (narrative discussion vis-à-vis tables) No segmentation – problems should have been identified by category/kind of school Sweeping statements

  12. ALS General statements/judgments - no data mapping No in-depth analysis of tables presented Inaccurate and inadequate data No segmentation

  13. General Recommendations Segmentation Provide forecasting Check accuracy/adequateness/reliability of data Present data in graphical/tabular form; disaggregation of data Provide SWOT analysis Include data analysis on private schools
