  1. Biysk

  2. Biysk is the second big industrial and cultural centre of the Altai territory. The city is situated on two Biya riversides. The population of Biysk is about 223 thousand of people. Biysk was founded as fortress in 1709. In 1804 the city has got its own emblem with a silver horse above and a golden mountain penetrated by mine below.

  3. The Uspenskaya Church is a construction of great artistic value situated at the bank of the River Biya. The most distinctive trait of the Church is its bright – blue domes. The walls and the inner part of the dome bear beautiful holy painting. There’s a priceless collection of icons there, the most famous of which is the Icon of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  4. The Siberian Trade Bank is located on Sovetskaya Street. It’s a big brick construction rectangular in shape. Built in 1890 by the order of famous woman – merchant Morozova, it bears the elements of classic architecture of the XIX century. • The Siberian Trade Bank is located on Sovetskaya Street.   5. The Bianky Museum of Regional Ethnography is a red – brick building located not far from the bridge across the Biya. It is named after Vitaly Bianky. The exposition of the Museum presents common and rare animals and birds found in the Altai Territory.

  6. The Memorial is located in a quite square not far from the Drama Theatre. It was erected to commemorate the heroes from Biysk and neighbouring villages perished in World War II. The names of more then 9700 Biysk citizens are written down in the Memory Book of the Altai Territory.

  7. The Drama Theatre occupies a beautiful mansion in the Old Centre on Sovetskaya Street. It was built more than a hundred years ago. Since 1920s the building has been used for cultural and entertainment purposes. In 1941 the Barnaul Drama Theatre moved there and in December the troupe of the Moscow Theatre joined it. Many famous actors and theatres staged their performances and gave concerts in this beautiful old mansion.
