  1. T Galaxy Inmarsat-C/GPS Trimble Navigation

  2. Trimble Background • Founded in 1978 by Charles R. Trimble • Pioneered GPS technology • Public corporation since 1990 • 500,000 Square feet of facilities • >1,100 employees

  3. A Global Company

  4. Technology & Manufacturing • Known for technological leadership • Invested $37 million in 1997 in research • More GPS patents than U.S. Government • Working on 8th generation products • World-class Manufacturing • Award winning PCB Assembly Facility • High quality & reliability • Rapid delivery time

  5. Galaxy Inmarsat-C/GPS Products • Triple Winner - NMEA Product of the Year • The market leader in Standard-C • Highest volume production Standard-C

  6. Galaxy Fishing Features • Integral tamper proof GPS • Integrity features • Flexible position reporting modes • Event driven position reports • Sleep Mode • Time & Distance Reporting (TDR) • Position Logging • Fishing Activity Reports

  7. Tamper Proof GPS • Custom Trimble GPS chips • GPS chip level integration • No GPS “module” cable connections • Accurate polled position reports • Distress message generator input • SafetyNET filter • NMEA 0183 output

  8. Integrity Features • Password protected configuration • Prevents unauthorized reconfiguration of transceiver • DTE password locked to DCE • Installation of new software does not compromise passwords • Password protected following new DTE software installation • Password protected following new DCE software installation • Time & date stamp in serial EPROM • Assists detection of unauthorized tampering • Disable Send Light • No send lamp when data report is transmitted

  9. Data Reporting • Position, course, speed and event codes • Remote polling and programming • Periodic and individual position reports • Up to 40 report destinations via multiple LESs • Up to 8 data report interval timers • LES, Timer & DNID association for security

  10. Event Driven Data Reports • Automatic generation of position reports with codes to identify: • Power-up • Power-down (Authorized) • Power-down (Unauthorized) • Antenna disconnected • Antenna blocked • TDR conditions • General purpose inputs, generate data reports in response to switch or sensor inputs • Fishing, • Not fishing, • Other user defined events

  11. Sleep Mode • Four states • On • Sleeping • Sleep-walking • Off (only when sleep mode is disabled) • Control via over-the-air commands • Conserves power • Configurable Sleep Mode data reporting • Independent Sleep Mode & Data Report timers

  12. Sleeping/Sleep-walking Selections [ ] Indefinitely (Galaxy will enter sleeping state only on over-the-air or DTE command) [ ] Duration (sleep-walking time, 1 to 1440 min) [ ] Wakeup interval (1 minute to 1 year) [ ] Power-up extension (On time following last scheduled report, 0 to 1440 minutes) These are set-up selections that the user makes to define Sleep-walking and Sleeping times. The Power-up extension is used to provide time to download new poll commands.

  13. Sleep Mode Reports [ ] Last on manual power-down to Sleep Mode (MEM 80) [ ] Last known on power-up (MEM 66) [ ] First on wake-up (MEM 81) [ ] First on manual power-up (MEM 82) Wake up time and date (hhmmyyyy) Time & Distance Reports (TDR)

  14. Time & Distance Reports (TDR) • Data Reports based on time & distance parameters • TDRs are programmed by over-the-air polls • TDRs are specific to a DNID/LES pair for security • Parameters include • Maximum time between Data Reports (5 minutes to 7 days) • Distance moved and interval of movement (meters/minutes) • External general purpose input • Data report type is user defined (land/marine/extended) • MEM codes are assigned in the poll by the user

  15. Position Logging • Ability to store >5000 position reports • Starts automatically on power-up • FIFO memory maintains last 5000+ positions • Logging interval set by Over-the-Air command (2 to 1440 minutes) • Positions between selected dates/times may downloaded over the air • Download is a binary file in Data Report format • PIN-code and DNID security

  16. Forms

  17. Summary • Three time Winner of the NMEA Satellite Communications Product of the Year Award • First choice for fishing markets • First choice for land mobile markets • The market leader in Standard-C • Highest volume production Standard-C Trimble Galaxy is:
