  1. Stage & Body Test • SILENT during test! • Complete BOTH sides of test. • Any questions, RAISE YOUR HAND. • When finished, read a book.

Drama 5-7: The 5 Body Positions 10.29.13 • Behavior: Students will learn how to use the 5 body positions while on stage. • Conditions: Students will follow position guidelines and kinesthetically model correct usage. • Criteria: After modeling, students will be able to identify at least 3/5 positions with 100% accuracy as per Class Work Rubric.

  6. What ways do our bodies communicate emotion or feeling? Give three specific examples or situations.

  7. What is Body Positioning? • The angle at which an actor(s) is set on stage during a given production.

  8. Full Front • One of the strongest and most common of stage positions. • The entire body faces the audience Abbreviations: FF

  9. Quarter Turn (1/4) Fairly open positions that are strong, but not as strong as Full Front. Mostly used with conversations and dialouge. Abbreviation: 1/4

  10. Profile Side to Side Can express a wide array of emotion; anger, love, confusion, etc… Hard to hear at times and see for members of the audience. Abbreviation: P

  11. Three-Quarter Turn (3/4) • Generally a weak position. • Audience will have a hard time seeing and hearing actor. • Mostly used in closing scenes or moments of discovery. • Abbreviation: 3/4

  12. Full Back • A compelling position that when used appropriately can produce dramatic results. • Not used unless needed to display specific emotions. • Defeat, avoidance, dismissal, etc… Abbreviation: FB
