  3. Importance of the Mission • Enable sustainable delivery of Healthcare to Cameroonians in need. • Enhance friendship between participating countries America, Cameroon and Nigeria • Opportunity to develop Cameroon Diaspora to participate in Medical Mission.

  4. Mission Outline • Dec 5th to Dec 11th Prelim Visit by head of Mission to Limbe by Dr. Simeon Afolayan and team. • Team received by Lord Mayor of Limbe Daniel Matute • Assessment of Facilities ie Bota Anex Hospital and Limbe General Hospital.

  5. Mission Outline Con’t • Feb 10th : Arrival of Administrative team from USA to Limbe. • Feb 11th & 12th:Planning and tour of facilities, Meeting with City officials and prepare lodging and other logistics for the entire team. Deploy and arrange medical supplies for the mission to the facilities. • Feb 13th: Arrival of team from Nigeria and the rest of the team from USA, team transported from Douala Airport to Limbe by the Limbe 1 Council.

Mission Outline Con’t • Feb 14thmorning: Reception with entire mission team, Cameroon, Nigeria and USA based team meet with officials for briefings and more, hosted by Limbe council. • Feb 14th afternoon and 15th : Review of Pre-Screened patient data and planning. • Feb 16th – Start of Surgical procedures, goal of 20 patients per day, working with 3 surgical teams. • Feb 24th : Last day of Surgical Operations • Feb 25th : Round up Mission • Feb 26th: Celebration and Departure of Mission team.

  7. Mission Outline Con’t Feb 25th – March 31 2010: Post-Operative follow Care by Cameroon based team. Dr. Kinge, Dr. Ebong and Dr. Elangwe April 1 – 3oth 2010: Submission of Medical Mission Data to Participating Organization.

  8. Needs: Medical Supplies • Medical Supplies Container: Funds are still needed to help with shipping of container from Medshare. • Plan B: If Medshare does not come through we can talk to other organizations • Plan C: Look at the Possibility of the Nigeria team to bring the supplies.

  9. Needs: Medications • Anti-biotics needed for the surgical Procedures. • Awaiting List of Medications from Dr. Simeon Afolayan, head of Mission. • Explore Opportunities with Wallgreens Distribution headquarters to donate medications as soon as list is received.

  10. Needs: Diagnostics • The team from Nigeria will be providing the necessary equipment to run all lab tests needed for procedures. • At this time there is no need for imaging because the operation is for minor surgeries but if need arises we will explore local resources.

  11. Government Clearance for Mission Work • In a recent meeting in New York between AWDF Inc and the Minister of Health HE Andre Mama Fouda to discuss the mission, full clearance was granted by the Minister in presence of the Cameroon Ambassador HE Charles Foe-Atangana. A formal Permission to Operate will be sent from the Embassy for the Mission team.

  12. Assistance from Partner NGO in Cameroon • The Cameroon Red Cross has expressed interest to help with the Clearance of the container and to help make sure the mission succeeds. Contact has been established with the Director of Cameroon Red Cross Mr. Eteki Mboumoua at the headquarters of Cameroon RedCross. • Their Assistance with a previous mission was very crucial.

  13. Ground Transportation • City of Limbe represented by Lord Mayor Daniel Matute has expressed they will assist in this area. • Use of Limbe Council buses to transport mission personnel for mission purposes.

  14. Lodging, Food and Bev • We are working with Limbe Council and will also contact the Government Delegate for Limbe Mr. Mutanga Monjimbo to help. • Food and Beverage: Local caterers are putting in request to help cater for the team at discounted rates. Need to explore for full sponsorship if possible.

  15. Media and Public Relations • Use of Local Media to spread the word about the Mission on Radio, news papers and television in Cameroon. • Contacts with local Churches to also spread the word about the Mission.
