  1. King Fahd university of Petroleum and Minerals Construction Engineering and Management Department CEM 512 Unused Space in Mosque To: Prof. Sadi Assaf Prepared by: Abdullah Al-Sharif

  2. OUTLINE • Objective • Introduction • Value Engineering Job Plan • Information Phase • Speculation Phase • Analysis Phase • Development Phase • Presentation & Implementation Phases • Conclusion

  3. OBJECTIVE Apply the Value Engineering concept to select the best way to reduce the operational cost for existing 40m x 50m Mosque.

  4. Introduction The operational cost for a 40m x 50m Mosque is considered to be high because of the following factors: • Unutilized space • Excess power • Dirty carpet needs to be replaced. This presentation will show VE study in order to save some money.

  5. Information Phase Performance Criteria • Saving money • Air-conditioning • Lights • Clean carpet • Aesthetic • Pleasant place

  17. Summary Use transparent glass as partition for one third of the total area (750 sq. m) in order to minimize the consumption of power that caused by air-condition, replacing carpet and excess lights. In addition to install the cooling sensors to maintain the temperature. Following table will show the net saving out of the study.
