Identify one Ah- Ha for use at your next staff meeting. Record on your reflection log.

  25. Some Facts about Learning and the Brain…. • Processing: The brain is a parallel processor. It can perform several activities at once. • Engagement: Learning engages the whole body & mind: movement, food, attention cycles, and chemicals all influence learning.  • Meaning: The search for meaning is innate – it requires more than just information. • Emotions: Emotions are critical. These drive our attention, meaning and memory. • Community: The brain is social. It develops better in concert with other brains. • Environment: Complex learning is enhanced by challenge and inhibited by stress.

Placemat Write • Silent reading reflection- Meeting Handouts (5 minutes); • Place placemat in the center of the group; • Each member writes one idea or ah-ha on the placement related to the handouts and improving staff meeting (3 minutes); • Round robin share the ideas (3 minutes); • The group discusses ideas to make staff meetings FUN and ENGAGING; • Record the ideas in the center of the chart; • Post placemats on the wall.
