  2. NBEMS Basic Setup and Configuration for PEMA/ACS Operations

Prerequisites for NBEMS Operations: • Current versions of FLDIGI, FLMSG and FLAMP downloaded and installed • A basic understanding of your computer Operating System (OS) • Ability to create file folders and move files • Basic understanding of saving spread sheetfiles to CSV (comma separated value) format

  4. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI Download and install FLDIGI, FLMSG and FLAMP from www.w1hkj.com/download.html

  5. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI Double click on your FLMSG icon and follow the installation wizard for the basic setup of FLDIGI

  7. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI Fill in your personal data and click Next

  8. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI Check “PortAudio” and select your sound card from the Capture and Playback drop down boxes, then click Next

  9. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI Make sure “Native” is selected for your Capture and Playback Sample Rate, then click Next

  10. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI Only check “use serial Port PTT” if you have a sound card interface that uses a serial port for PTT and select the appropriate com port.

  11. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI Now you should see the FLDIGI program:

  12. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI Click on the Olivia Tab and make sure extended characters is checked

  13. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI Click on the Thor Tab and enter your “secondary text” station ID info

  14. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI Click on the UI and Macros Tabs and duplicate the following settings

  15. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI Click on the Waterfall and Display Tabs and duplicate the following settings

  16. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI Click on the Waterfall, FFT ProcessingTabs and duplicate the following settings

  17. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI Click on the ID Tab, RsID, and duplicate the following settings then click on “receive modes”

  18. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI Click on “clear all” then select only the modes you want to have FLDIGI auto detect, then click close. IMPORTANT: now click “Save, then click Close at the bottom of the FLDIGI Configure window.

  19. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI Double Click the FLAMP icon on your desktop, then click on the Configure tab and make sure all the boxes are unchecked

  20. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI Double Click the FLMSG icon on your desktop, then fill in your personal information

  21. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI In FLMSG, click on Configure, then click on Date/Time then select your time formats. Important: Make sure your computer Operating System time and UTC offset settings are always correct!

  22. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI Go back to FLDIGI, click Configure, click Misc and select the NBEMS Tab, duplicate the following settings then click “Locate flmsg.

  23. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI Navigate to your program files then to the FLMSG folder, click on the flmsg file in that folder then click “open”.

  24. First steps in configuration of FLDIGI You should now see the FLMSG path including the flmsg.exe. Click Save, then click Close.
