  1. ELA 20-2 1.1 My Profile Assignment My name is….

  2. …KarinnViera! And I’m Frank the dog! But now I call Edmonton & Spruce Grove… I’m Phoenix, Karinn’s cat. Originally I’m from Ottawa… …My home! These are my parents…I’m an only child (lucky them!)

  3. Learning Preferences & Learning Strategies I also discovered I am a strong visual learner, and have some traits of an auditory learner. This isn’t that surprising to me, because I am very creative with scrapbooking. But there were good strategies in the Appendix to look at! In the Learning Preferences survey, I learned I have traits of both Abstract-Random learners and Concrete-Sequential learners (this would explain why my social life and my familiy are so incredibly significant to me day to day (and maybe my addiction to FaceBook…) and ALSO why I have to keep myself really organized with school work!) Eye see you….

  4. Walking my goofy dog Frank wherever he “needs” to go, to who ever he “needs” to visit Playing wheelchair basketball with the WBC youth in Edmonton A few of my favorite activities are… Gardening! I love flowers! My favourite quotation is: "Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see." -- Mark Twain

  5. Oh man… Currently I am un-employed… My favorite song lyric is… ROCK!! “Where the wild are strong / and the strong are the darkest ones…” My favorite kind of music is… This is from “the Darkest One” by the Tragically Hip. I really like this lyric, because I always feel like this could be in Canada’s national anthem or something. It just hits me right in the heart, every time. Maybe it’s silly, but this is seriously my most favorite song – My dad got me into the Tragically Hip. At first I was like, “keep your old man band to yourself, gosh…” But they are so awesome. Some of my favorite bands are: Alkaline Trio, Florence + the Machine, Black Keys, Sloan , Grouplove, and the Tragically Hip

  6. My future… Because of my Muscular Dystrophy, my future is somewhat uncertain. It’s hard to know how long things will stay good with my health before they make a change. Muscular dystrophy means that my muscles and muscle tissue in my body are weakening prematurely, and this started early in my life (I was diagnosed when I was 9). Right now, I am only in a wheel chair sometimes (for half the day), but as time progresses, I may be in a wheel chair full time, and other things that I have been able to do, I might not be able to do anymore. I have a good quality of life because of how advanced technology is now, but as I get older, things may change, depending on what my illness decides to do. That said, I have a really great support system in my family, friends and doctors/therapists, and since I’ve had such a good network my whole life, I would like to be able to do the same for other people. I especially know what kind of emotional support helps me, and I know I could give it to others that needed it, whether they are kids with Muscular Dystrophy, or other disabilities. I have been a camp counselor already, and I really enjoyed it, which makes me think I would enjoy mentorship even more.

  7. My favourite movies or TV shows are… My favourite books or magazines are… This reminds me of the tiger in “We Bought a Zoo.” Dramatic movies like “the Help”, or “Life in a Day” (this is made of over 50,00 YouTube video clips– it’s awesome), “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close”, and “We Bought a Zoo”, or other feel-good movies are movies I enjoy. I don’t watch a lot of TV, but I do love GLEE! I really enjoy reading online publications, especially at “Abilities.ca” or humour blogs that I find. It’s quite motivational, and very interesting what you can find to follow. I also really enjoy reading crime and criminal investigation novels (Patricia Cornwall, Kathy Reich). I do pick up a Cosmo or two along the way…
