  1. Welcome toBack to School Night! August 19, 2010

  2. Sandalwood Elementary is a Title 1 School. What does this mean?

  3. Attendance

  4. Arrival/Dismissal Arrival is at 8:45 a.m. Students should not arrive earlier. The late bell will ring at 9:00 a.m. Dismissal is at 3:15 p.m. Students should be picked up promptly at our classroom door.

  5. What should I do if my child is absent or late?

  6. Homework Policies Math Wide Reading Spelling/Word Work

  7. Wide Reading Program 1 step equals 15 minutes of reading. All students expected to read at least 11 steps per week. 1 step at school each weekday, 1 step at home each week day, 1 step over the weekend. Parent must sign reading log for steps at home. 100 steps per quarter, 400 steps by the end of the year. Students who do not participate in this program will be ineligible for honor roll.

  8. Word Work Monday – Thursday homework using words in Word Study notebook (found in a baggie or envelope) All students expected to complete each activity assigned for that night including a parent signature. Monday = Regular Sort, Tuesday = Speed Sort, Wednesday = Sentences, Thursday = Writing Sort Tests will be each Friday and will focus on words studied throughout the week, as well as new words containing the sound spelling focus for that week.
