  2. Poly is the prefix • Poly means “many”

  3. Polychromatic adjective • Having many different colors • There were polychromatic Easter eggs in my basket.

  4. Polyclinic (noun) • A hospital that treats many different kinds of diseases • My son had his immunizations at a polyclinic.

  5. Polydactyl adjective • Having many fingers or toes (more than the normal number) • The polydactyl kitten was born with an extra toe on his paw.

  6. Polyglot noun • A person who knows how to speak, read or write many languages • The polyglot translated the letter into four languages; French, Spanish, Arabic and Tagalog.

  7. Polygon noun • A closed plane figure with many straight lines that connect • I like to draw polygons with more than four shapes.

  8. Polygraph noun • A machine that write down many different changes in the body while the person answers questions; a lie detector test • I wanted to give my son a polygraph to determine who broke the vase.

  9. Polyhedron noun • A solid figure with many sides such as a pyramid • I had to cut out 20 triangles to make the polyhedron.

  10. Polymorphous adjective • Having or assuming many different forms • The polymorphous Bumble Bee drove away and then flew into the sky.

  11. Polysyllabic adjective • A word having many syllables • Polysyllabic words are long. • Dic-tion-ar-y • Vo-cab-u-lar-y

  12. Polytheism noun • The belief in many different gods: • Ancient Egyptians believed in polytheism because they believed in over 20 gods.
