  2. What is a football? Football is the name of several similar team sports, all with similar origins which involve, to varying degrees, kicking a ball with the foot in an attempt to score a goal. The most popular of these sports worldwide is association football

  3. What is football? In the mid-1800s, a game similar to soccer began to become popular in the eastern United States. Players tried to kick a round ball across an opponent’s goal line. Throwing the ball or running with it was not allowed. A team might have as many as several dozen players. Schools began to organize teams and adopt uniform rules. In 1869 the first college game was played between two bitter rivals, Rutgers University and the College of New Jersey (now called Princeton University).

  4. Walter C. Camp • Walter Camp was born April 17, 1859, in New Haven, Connecticut. He attended Yale from 1876 to 1882, where he studied medicine and business. Walter Camp was an author, athletic director, chairman of the board of the New Haven Clock Company, and director of the Peck Brothers Company. 

  5. How Walter invented football • Camp attended Yale in the late 1870s, where he played on the varsity squads from 1877 to 1882. He also captained the team in 1878, '79 and '81. Yale's record during his time on the team was an impressive 25-1-6. But it was his vision and innovation off the field, organizing the game from a brutal scrum to an orderly game of skill, strength and finesse, that really gives Camp the distinction of the Father of the Modern Game of Football.

  7. Positive and negative effects • Some positive effects are felling good about your self from scoring. You can run over people. • Some negative ways are you can get really hurt. You could never play outside again if you get hurt. And you will have to go to rehab every day to get your legs better and stronger.

  8. Size and shape When you play football you use different kinds of football. When you buy a football it has to be the right size for your finger. If it is to small it will be hard for them to throw it. The people that people that made the football though about it that the size and shape of the football. They made different sizes of football so other can play football to not just any person.

  9. How does football work? • When you get to 4th down you are most likely going to punt the ball away to the other team or make a field goal. Both of the team's goal is to score what you call a "Touchdown." To do this you must get into the end zone.There is a yellow goal post at each end zone. If the kicker kicks the ball into those goal posts, that's worth 3 points.
