Factors predicting likelihood of earthquake early warning system implementation:

  • Exposure to information on EWS

  • Having an earthquake warning system

  • Having a hazardous materials alert system

  • Would warn both workers and automate equipment or systems

  • Belief that injuries would be less with 10 seconds of warning

  • Cost

  • 52.6% of survey respondents were interested in participating in a pilot study

  • An additional 23.4% said they might be interested

  • Most interested: Emergency services

  • Least interested: Health care

  • Perceived risk of being affected by a major earthquake

  • Perceived likelihood of implementing an early warning system

  • Provides earthquake preparedness education for the public

  • Would like to start or increase earthquake preparedness education for the public
