Why is it so important? • Twitter now has 105,779,710 registered users. • New users are signing up at the rate of 300,000 per day. • 180 million unique visitors come to the site every month. • 75% of Twitter traffic comes from outside Twitter.com (i.e. via third party applications.) • Twitter gets a total of 3 billion requests a day via its API. • Twitter users are, in total, tweeting an average of 55 million tweets a day. • Twitter's search engine receives around 600 million search queries per day.

Why is it so important? • Exceeds 2 billion views per day: nearly double the prime-time audience of all 3 major US networks combined. • There are 24 HOURS of videos uploaded every minute. • The average person spends 15 minutes a day on YouTube. • More video is uploaded to YouTube in 60 days than all 3 major US networks created in 60 years.

If you’re not there, you’re not anywhere. • These days, a social media presence is as necessary as a letterhead, a shingle, or an interactive web site. • If you’re not out there, you might as well be invisible. • It’s not just a matter of being “cutting-edge” anymore.
