  3. Prepositional Phrases- are phrases that usually begin with a preposition Example: We took a long walk by the beach I ate lunch after watching TV.

Combining Sentences with prepositional phrases • Read the sentences • Identify the prepositional phrase • Combine sentenced by placing the prepositional phrase at the beginning of the sentence or at the end of the sentence • Use a comma if the prepositional phrase is at the beginning of the sentence. I want to plant tomatoes. I want to plant them in the spring time. In the spring time, I want to plant tomatoes. or I want to plant tomatoes in the spring time. Do not place a comma if the phrase is at the end of the sentence
