REEEP– Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership • REEEP is a global Type II partnership launchedby the UK government at the WSSD. • REEEP currently comprises 185 partners representing 30 governments, businesses and NGO’s committed to accelerating the uptake of renewable energy and energy efficiency. • REEEP is currently funded by various governments such as the Austria, Australia, Canada, Germany, EU, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, US, and UK the major donor of REEEP.

Services Projects REEEP funding comes from 10 governments National Programs are dedicated to REEEP 2005/6 6.1 mio donations Annual Donation of Donor Countries Project Administration Fee (10% of the project volume) 2004 : 48 Projects through GOF(UK) 2 projects BMWA (Austria) 2005 : 18 projects, FCO financed 2006: 32 projects, financed by DEFRA, FCO, Ireland, Italy

The outcome of REEEP policy activities catalyses investments • Support of governments to establish long lasting legal frameworks in favour of REES • Support integration of REES regulation into the overall energy and development policies e.g. rural development, agriculture • Increase awareness towards REES with policymakers, bankers, local bodies and end-users • Empowering local authorities and organisations to take advantage of CDM to promote REES • Implement initiatives at local and municipal levels in favour of REES

REEEP finance projects for poverty alleviation Financing energy upgrades in South African low income homes • Financing EE lighting, thermal insulation and solar water heating • Replication of this Cape Town project in other parts of SA Support to small scale RES in South Asia (S3IDF) • Support establishment/operation of a small scale RES infrastructure fund • Fund targeting India, Nepal and Sri Lanka Green Network in Southern Africa • Capacity building in villages on energy planning, financing and RES utilisation • Focus on women -

Added value through collaboration with partners • Improve the climate for REES investments through joint projects • Build capacity from existing projects in order to ‘scale-up’ and replicate learning's into other markets • Improve and develop information and training tools for REES • Increase synergies and avoid overlapping activities • Share contacts and lessons learnt • Organize joint events especially on EE in emerging markets
