Farm minimale • Esempio – Centro di eccellenza • Una decina di macchine “Worker Node” • Uno Storage Element • Un Computing Element • Uno switch non blocking • Un buon accesso al GARR • Gli altri servizi possono essere forniti altrove. Per esempio INFNGRID viene servito dal CNAF M.Michelotto INFN-PD

  3. Worker Node • Case 1U • Dual PIII 1266 con 1GB di memoria DDR  RH 6.2 • Dual Xeon > 2.0 GHz e 2 GB di memoria  RH7.x • Due dischi da 40-60 GB EIDE • Scheda di rete Ethernet 10/100 M.Michelotto INFN-PD

  4. Storage Element • Case 4U • Dual PIII o Xeon • Due bus di cui almeno uno a 64 bit/66MHz • Scheda di rete Gigabit Ethernet • 1 TB di disco • Controller SCSI e circa un di dischi SCSI 73-146 GB • Uno o due Controller 3ware con dischi EIDE 120-200 GB M.Michelotto INFN-PD

  5. Altro Ferro • Un rack 19” • Uno switch KVM per accedere alla console. Accesso grafico ma locale • Oppure un Console Server, una specie di terminal server con telnet inverso, accesso solo testo ma remoto M.Michelotto INFN-PD

  6. Switch • Switch Ethernet con porte 100 Mbit verso i computing element • Accesso Gigabit Ethernet verso il computing element • Esempio Catalyst 3548, HP2650 che hanno 48 porte e due uplink M.Michelotto INFN-PD

  7. Accesso al GARR • Un accesso a 8 Mbps dovrebbe essere sufficiente. • A velocità superiori si possono provare problemi in cui i nodi di calcolano accedono a Storage Element esterni, migrazione di dati, spostare applicazione vicino ai dati o i dati vicino alle applicazioni M.Michelotto INFN-PD

  8. LCFG e supporto • LCFG www.lcfg.org : il sistema di installazione e configurazione scelto ad interim dal WP4 di EDG • Un sistemista esperto di Linux • Stiamo migrando solo ora da RH6.2 a RH 7.x • Previsto il porting a Solaris • Accesso ad altre macchine mascherato dalle code del batch scheduler es. Beowulf, LSF, PBS, rsh, Condor M.Michelotto INFN-PD
