  2. www.SCHIEx.org Purpose for Exchange The need to modernize how health information is shared has been recognized and discussed for a decade. In an ideal world, a patient’s history would be available electronically to their health provider anywhere the patient seeks care.

  3. Approach SCHIEx core technology + standards-based interoperability enable providers from different organizations using different EHR systems to connect….

  4. Services …and exchange key clinical information with other participating providers, such as: • Diagnoses and procedures • Lab results • Immunization records • Discharge summaries • Medication lists • Allergies • Clinical summaries

  5. SCHIEx EXCHANGE Fully automated and bi-directional. Sometimes referred to as “query” or “robust” exchange. This service also includes: • SCDHEC gateway - enables bi-directional exchange with the State Immunization Registry. • Nationwide health information network eHealth Exchange gateway - Veteran health exchange. • Direct Messaging
