Sr. Principal Network Engineer

  3. Job & Duties • Danny is in the network engineering field. He plays a key role in his company’s expansions and development of new services. • He helps other engineers by coming up with the standard configuration they will use in their equipment ( ex: routers, switches, firewalls, CMTS, Core routers, etc ). • He is also responsible for working with the vendors ( Cisco Arris, Juniper, etc) to show them flaws they have found in either there software or circuitry they use in their devices. • Danny is tasked with coming up with the network plan they will use to launch new features and or speeds for the internet ( ie: iptv, dvr capability, bandwidth ). • He work on figuring out what is the best protocol to use for their systems as they become more and more advanced ( BGP, TCIP, ISIS, VLAN, IPV6, multicast, etc)

Some weeks more and some less depending on the situation and what if any major projects or testing needs to be done. • Starting with high school, describe your educational background chronologically. • High School Diploma • Associates of Science • Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering • Masters in Computer Engineering • CCNA, CCNP, CCIE certifications

  5. Reflecting • If you had it to do over, related to your career or education, would you do anything differently? I would not change anything. I love what I do for it is forever changing and new things come out hourly to keep your mind going and learning. • What advice would you give to me, or someone interested in pursuing a career path similar to yours? “Have a passion for the unknown and challenges for they are around every corner. Do not get discouraged or ever doubt yourself for no one person can know everything. Here is my favorite saying that I believe will help: “In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.”

  6. Project Reflection • What surprised you the most about the interview? How many Diplomas and educational background you had to have to be an electrical engineer. • What was the most important piece of information that you learned from the interview? Whatever career I chose, to be passionate about it • How has this interview influenced your feelings about your future career? It definitely taught me to be more careful about what I choose to be when I’m older but also to be very passionate about my career, and to strive and reach my goals so I will get to the place in want to be at in 10 years or so.

  8. Mechanical Engineer • Their common duties: Most of the time the mechanical engineering job includes using math and physics principles to help with the design of a product. No matter the project, most mechanical engineers are responsible for a single part of a very large system. And with modern technology their duties have become even more advanced. • Working Environment: Mechanical engineers usually start their day off in an office environment to meet with other professionals to gather info. About the design of their project. They also spend a lot of time in test laboratory's to test prototypes. After the prototype is complete they go to a manufacturing plant to make sure its functions well, and lastly take it to the field. • Is it specialized? It can be. Like for example, in the military mechanical engineering deals with fixing certain military grade vehicles. But other times, they could be dealing with all sorts of things such as motorcycles, cars, and even large trucks.
