Florida Rail System Plan

  • Recently completed development of the Florida Rail System Plan

  • Most comprehensive plan to date

    • Policy Element (adopted March 2009)

      • Sets overall goals/objectives for rail

      • Defines specific FDOT actions

    • Investment Element (currently in public review)

      • Reviews system components/characteristics

      • Identifies and prioritizes needs

      • Discusses funding for rail priorities

    • Rail Stakeholder Advisory Committee

    • Needs survey instrument

  • Identified $50.4 Billion in needs over the next 20+ years

    • $3.1B in freight needs

      • $46.5B in new service needs

  • Current FDOT 2011-2015 Work Program includes $1.6B in funding for rail

      • Part of FDOT/CSX agreements
