Its aim was to eliminate housing shortage issues after Singapore obtained freedom in 1965, developing flats mainly rented by low-income categories. Nowadays, HDB flats have become the most sought after properties in Singapore as they are relatively affordable. HDB properties are self-sufficient with features such as markets, treatment centres, shopping malls, schools, play areas and more.
