  2. What is the Info Army? It’s the friendliest army in town! Your role is to welcome walkers, answer their questions, and approach them to ask how you can help. When walkers return, you will be at the Finish Line welcoming them back!

Schedule for Info Army Volunteers Saturday, May 17 • 1:00 pm Information Army Volunteer Orientation at NaumbergBandshell in Central Park (see map) Sunday, May 18 Info Army Schedule: • 6:45 a.m. Info Army Key VolSergeants arrive to pick up radios • 7:00 a.m. Remaining Info Army volunteers arrive at NaumbergBandshell • 7:00 a.m. – 7:15 a.m. get Info Army Cap, Volunteer T-shirt, and head to designated post with your sergeant • 10:00 a.m. AIDS Walk New York Begins. Head to Dead Road for lunch. The earliest lunch you’ve ever had! • 10:30 a.m. Set up Finish Line and Hooplah(our celebratory Finish Line Festivities) • 12:00 p.m. Walkers begin finishing the Walk! Welcome them back and distribute Certificates of Completion. • 2:00 p.m. Walker traffic slows down. Stay as long as you can to help breakdown and clean up! • Sunday Evening: Relax! You’ve worked so hard all day  Walker Schedule: • 8:30 a.m. Walker Sign-In Begins • 9:00 a.m. Aerobic Warm-Up, led by WNBA New York Liberty Legends • 9:15 a.m. Opening Ceremony Begins • 10:00 a.m. The Walk begins! • 12:00 p.m. Walkers approach the Finish Line (same location as start line) Location: • The AIDS Walk will starts and ends in Central Park. • Enter the park at 59th Street and 5th Avenue. Length: • 10 Kilometers/ 6.2 miles • There are three checkpoints along the route with snacks and drinks! • Checkpoint 4 is after the Finish Line. We have ice cream!

  4. Background This year marks the 29th annual AIDS Walk New York, the east coast’s first and the world’s largest AIDS fundraising event.  The event will raise vital funds for GMHC and more than 40 other AIDS service organizations in the tri-state area. 

  5. Important Day of event reminders • If you have a T-shirt from last year, please wear it on Sunday! If not, we will give you a volunteer T-shirt and an Info Cap • You are the face of AIDS Walk. Smile and be friendly to walkers! • Direct walkers & Answer questions • Read the Fact Sheet and Frequently Asked Questions (attached)

  7. Sign-Inand Awards Walkers only need to sign-in if they have funds to submit or awards to pick up! Types of Sign-In: • General Sign-In (enter Central Park on 59th and 5th) • Green Walker Sign-In @ the Apple Store • Star Walker Sign-In • Gold Team Sign-In Walkers who raise $150 or more earn Fundraising Awards. These can be picked up at the Award Tent after getting an Award Card at Sign-In. Green Walkers and Star Walkers pick up awards at their designated Sign-In areas = one stop shops!

  8. Star Walkers Star Walkers set the goal to raise $1,000. They are AIDS Walk Royalty! All who raise $1,000 are invited to the exclusive Star Walker Breakfast, and earn all Fundraising Awards AND a crown. Cheer when you see a Star Walker wearing a crown!

  9. Team Meeting Areas All teams with at least 25 registered team members will be provided with a Team Meeting Station in Central Park. This station will have a sign with their Team Name and will be broken down immediately after the Walk starts. Team Meeting Stations are arranged alphabetically on East Drive and Literary Walk.

  10. Gold Teams Gold Teams are last year’s Top 20 Teams. They have extra special Team Meeting Stations in Rumsey Field and are instructed to enter on 72nd and 5th Each Gold Team also has a scheduled team photo, and can turn in funds at Gold Team Sign-In in Rumsey Field.

  11. Finish Line and Hooplah You’ll be at the Finish Line frontline as you cheer walkers on, welcome them back, and hand them their certificates of completion. You’ll also be throwing beach balls into the crowd!
