  1. The Jesus Parade Luke 18 & 19

  2. The Jesus Parade Surprising Intervention…. Luke 18:31-43

  3. Luke 18:31-34 Taking the twelve disciples aside, Jesus said, “Listen, we’re going up to Jerusalem, where all the predictions of the prophets concerning the Son of Man will come true. 32 He will be handed over to the Romans, and he will be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit upon. 33 They will flog him with a whip and kill him, but on the third day he will rise again.”

  4. Today looking at the Jesus parade… • It started in Bethlehem's manger and continues through right to this very morning….

  5. The primary question that we face today: • Do we understand that we have been invited to be Parade Participants??? • This Jesus parade is still marching this morning.

  6. A blind Beggar ... Bartimaeus A blind man who can see contrasted to sighted men who are blind A blind man able to see, grasp and hope in God’s Big dreams while others standing around physically sighted but spiritually unaware, Blinded!

  7. Bartimaeus asks an important and insightful question…. “What is happening?”

  8. Jesus of Nazareth is passing by … • This information ignited an amazing response from the blind beggar • He did this continuously and persistently… • He did it over the rebukes of those who led the Jesus parade… • He expressed a desperation and a Hope that few others in this crowd had… Jesus You can do something… please have mercy on me.

  9. Bartimaeus cry stopped Jesus in his tracks… A blind man discovered something of Jesus: He is not too busy, distracted, or religious to step into Your life….

  10. Jesus response: Ordered the very men who were trying to push Bartimaeus away to bring him to them…. Extraordinary grace in their lives as well…

  11. A short discussion, ‘What do you want?’ Something powerful about a specific, direct statement to the Lord about our need. 1. It focuses our faith 2. It gives glory to God when it happens

  12. Jesus statement: “Receive Your sight: for your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received sight and threw off the things of the past and began to follow Jesus…

  13. The invitation today… Become a parade participant…. Unleashing of the Presence of the King in your life at New levels… A New understanding of His Unlimited Grace, Power and Presence

  14. Becoming a parade participant…. Bartimaeus had to give up his comfort to join the parade • Throwing off his beggars garb… • Letting go of his spot … a key for a beggar • Scattering the trinkets of the days’ take … for Sight!

  15. Bartimaeus became a parade participant…. No longer sitting on the road side, now rejoicing, releasing His testimony the fragrance of the King among the people. A New identity A New destiny… God’s destiny released

  16. Now Imagine: The Parade has stopped in front of You… What is it that You want Jesus to do for you?????

  17. Zacchaeus … Luke 19:1-10 … the Jesus Parade continues through Jericho and was passing through probably the down town district.

  18. Who was Zacchaeus and why was the eye of God on him?

  19. Zacchaeus… • A chief tax collector • A sinner … ‘Bernie Madoff?’ • He was wealthy … because he had cheated and lied and collaborated.

  20. Why would Jesus stop for someone like that? • He was Lost …. 2. He wanted to see Jesus…

  21. Before we become too hard on Zacchaeus or Bernie Madoff, we better take a deeper look inside.

  22. More than he had bargained for…. • Jesus stopped under his tree… 2. Jesus reaching past the barriers transformed Zacchaeus… 3. The Jesus parade is about declaring God’s love for those who don’t think they have a chance with God.

  23. What about you today??? Jesus has stopped his parade under Your tree…. Given you an invitation… No matter where you are or what you have done, you are welcome!

  24. A Weeping King Luke 19:41-42As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it 42 and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes.

  25. The King’s heart exposed: The noise of the crowd still going on but Jesus is focused in another place. Jesus sees something that no else that day saw.

  26. The King’s heart exposed: As Jesus looked at the chaos of a captured city Jesus sees ahead some nearly 40 years…and weeps! (Mourns deeply)

  27. The King’s heart exposed: Jesus sees the bondage and captivity that exists now and the judgment that is coming on this city.

  28. Things that caused Jesus to weep … • Our blindness 2. Our lost potential • Our lost peace … • The risk of irrevocable loss in Hell!

  29. What causes blindness? • Our sin and stubborn refusal … • Our Unbelief … • Our refusal to surrender our control • Fear … that God’s character is a “Taking God rather than a Rescuing God.” • Our self-reliance • Others failures

  30. Jesus heart was broken by the lost moment! • They missed the Day/ Season of God’s Invitation to them. • They secured the place of being an Enemy of God incurring God’s wrath upon a people.

  31. Season of God’s visitation …God Unveiling hidden things… The condition of your heart. The predicament of our future. The confusion of our lives… The danger of our position without Him… The captivity of my own life outside His rulership…

  32. Conclusion: We have a Bold Embossed invitation in Blood , to join the Parade.
