Third-Party Web-Based Social Networks are: • Social! • According to EducauseCenter for Applied Research Study of Undergraduate Students and Information Technology, 2008, only 5.5 percent of 22,207 students from 44 colleges and universities used Social Network Sites to communicate with instructors about course content. (ECAR 89)

  20. Final Thoughts • Not every technology is necessarily appropriate for the classroom…and that is O.K. • More important that instructors are aware of the various ways students are using technology and communicating .
