  2. What is Service-Learning? Service learning is the combination of community service and classroom instruction, with a focus on critical, reflective thinking as well as personal and civic responsibility.

  3. Key Characteristics of Service-Learning • Academic credit for demonstrating learning achieved through the service, not just for putting in hours. • Encourages a greater understanding of social issues, civic responsibility and caring.

  14. Background Checks • Miami-Dade County Public Schools require a background check [except if you are an Education Major] • The background check package is found on our homepage under “Resources”

  19. Step # 7 Select “Proceed to Agency Selection”

  22. Step # 10 Click on first link to print Confirmation Agreement

  24. Step # 11 Fill out the document with the agency supervisor and submit it to your professor

  25. Step # 12 Click on second link to print Hour Report and Evaluation
