  1. Welcome to Dr. Mecca’s Class Please review carefully! You must receive a 90% on the slideshow quiz.

  3. RULES Be respectful of everyone you encounter. Be responsible for yourself and you learning. CONSEQUENCES Discovery Card Signature Team Contract Refer to Administration Classroom Rules & Consequences

Assessment & Grades • 10 Grades Each Quarter, 10 Points Each • 2 Grades are “Goal Grades”- students self assess goals they set for themselves • 2 Grades are “PQF”- daily puzzle, question, quote or fact of the day (At the Bell) • 6 Grades are assignments, projects, tests, etc. averaging one every ten days or so • Late Work is Not Accepted

  5. 1. ENTERING THE ROOM -lower the volume -take out materials needed for class, put others inside/under desk, & sharpen pencils read & copy agenda/assignments -be prepared for mini-lesson 2. END OF CLASS -check you have the assignment -clean up your area -wait for my signal 3. LEAVING THE ROOM (Lav, drink, etc.) -THINK about if it is necessary and a good time to leave-I trust your judgment; if you do this, it is not necessary to ask, just get a signature. -sign your planner & get my signature -get my signature 4. QUESTIONS -wait for a signal, either a pause or “Are there any questions?” 5. ATTENTION -finish “the phrase” -be ready to go! 6. LOCKER -Come prepared as you are not allowed to go to your locker once class begins 7. FIRE DRILL -wait for my signal, leave room -last person out, turn off the lights -get in single file and QUIETLY follow the exit procedure Procedures Continued- Read Carefully

ABSENTEE -listen to the podacst!! -look online (team website) -see buddy & tablemates -hand in any assignments -take any handouts -ask buddy or friend for anything you do not understand -see me when all others options have been exhausted 9. MATERIALS SIGN-OUT -to sign out a book on the cart, use the clipboard and remember to sign back in -to sign out books on the bookshelf, see Dr. Mecca *Books not signed back in are considered lost. Obligations must be paid in order to attend dances and receive report cards. See Dr. Mecca for fine amounts. 10. RESPECTFUL LANGUAGE -use “Please” and “Thank you” -say “Excuse me?” rather than “Huh?” or “What?” 11. STUDENT CENTER -the grey bin area is the student center -Find stapler, tape, paper, hand-ins & hand-outs, tissues, etc. here 12. GROUP WORK -assign jobs (leader, scriber, etc.) -communicate respectfully -keep volume level at medium -stay on task -allow others to talk -participate Procedures- Read Carefully

  7. 13. CARD SIGNATURES -the main reason for card signatures in my class are incomplete assignments, late to class, disruption of class & unprepared for class 14. VOLUME LEVELS -silent, no talking -low, whispering -medium, talking normally -loud, talking across the room, loud voices 15. TABLE WARS -fun, lighthearted table competition -table winners get first dibs at the café, “lounge” seating and small prizes 16. HOMEROOM PROCEDURE -do not ask to go where you need to -sign out on board, not planner -take a “pass” I know there are a lot of procedures, but it is important you read these carefully. Go back and re-read if necessary. Procedures Continued- Read Carefully

The Café • The class café is a reward for students. • If you are on team contract you are not allowed to go to the café. • The café manager and workers (cafers) run the café after applying and being trained. Applications are in the student center. • The café offers tea, coco, cappuccino, chai, OJ, water, bagels, muffins, granola bars, and other seasonal items.

  9. Tools of the Trade • You are required to bring the following to class each day: • 3 ring binder with dividers, loose leaf and a folder • A writing utensil • The book we are reading (if applicable) • Necessary paperwork (worksheets, handouts, etc.)

  10. Assessment • Did you read the slideshow carefully? Let’s see… • You must click the following link and use “team” and “8white” as the login name and password. • Once you complete the quiz, do not exit the score screen until the teacher sees your grade. • You must score a 90%. Otherwise, re-read the power point and re-take the test until you do TAKE THE QUIZ
