  2. A MOTHER FOR LIFE

  3. Ex 20:12 (the 5th commandment) 12 Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

  4. Do we teach this to our children at school? At home? At church? What does honor mean?

  5. Respect. Esteem. Listen carefully. Reverence. Appreciation. Value. Follow. Obey.

  6. Prov 29:17 17 Discipline your children, and they will give you peace of mind, and will make your heart glad.

  7. What does discipline mean? Teaching, correction, training, rules enforcement, instilling values, modeling good behavior, tough love.

  8. Children are a great comfort in your old age - and they help you reach it faster, too. ~Lionel Kauffman

  9. Things Mom Would Never Say “Sure, keep the frog…just put it in your drawer.” “Leave all the lights on ... it makes the house look more cheery." Let me smell that shirt -- Yep, it's good for another week.”

  10. You don’t have to make life hard for your children…just don’t try to make it easy. Obstacles, problems, and even unfair situations are good for kids. They are experiencing the real world. –Steve Henton

  11. Moms, don’t give in to these tactics by your children. Whining. Crying. Throwing a fit. Begging. Bargaining.

  12. Be a healthy mom and a healthy family. Where no one’s a victim. Where responsibility is taken, not shifted. Criticism is outdone by praise. Where there is no shame and blame. Children are taught how, not have it done for them. Where values are transmitted daily. And in all things love.

  13. Moms, make sure your children have all these attributes Self-worth. Accountability. Responsibility. Generosity. Care for others. Discipline. Honesty. Goodness.

  14. Mothers, children are often resentful of your snoopiness. That’s okay, go ahead and be snoopy. It’s your job, and it may save your child. –Steve Henton

  15. You can be overly controlling of your children, but you can’t be overly involved. Know where they are at all times and who they’re with, if they are mannerly…. and what time they will be home. –Steve Henton

  16. The most important social structure in America is the family. Moms and Dads, preachers and politicians, don’t take it for granted. As the family goes, so goes the nation….to further blessing and strength, or decay and ruin.
