  5. Graduation Requirements • 26 Total Credits • 4 English (Eng. I, II, III, IV) • 4 Math (must include Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II) • 3 Social Studies (Social Studies (2 – 9 week courses), World Civ., U.S. History) • 3 Science (Integrated Science I or Physics, Int. Sci. II or Chemistry , Biology)

  6. Grad. Requirements (cont’d) • 1 Visual and Performing Arts (HAVPA) • 2 World Languages (Spanish I, II or French I, II) • 1 Fitness and Wellness • 8 Electives Including 4 in a Career Pathway Including 1 Technology Course

  7. JCTC • If you choose a JCTC course, you will ride a shuttle bus to JCTC. • There are many, many career pathway opportunities for you at JCTC. • Scheduling for JCTC course will be in increments of a two block pathway. Please see your course directory.

  8. Graduation Distinction • KENTUCKY SCHOLARS DISTINCTION In addition to Jess. Co graduation requirements, you must take Physics2 credits of the same foreign language A Social Studies Elective Please let Mrs. Heady know if you are pursing this distinction.

  9. Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship KEES Base Award Amounts For each year you earn a 2.5 or better GPA, you can earn the base amount listed below. For instance, a high school freshman who earns a 3.5 GPA would have a $375 scholarship for each year of college. Amounts may change based on available funds.

  10. ACT Bonus Award Amounts You can earn a bonus award for an ACT score of 15 or above. For example, a KEES-eligible student who has a score of 25 would earn an additional $393 for each year of college.

  11. Scheduling Timeline • Core class recommendations will be made by your current (8th grade) teachers. • Please prioritize the Social Studies Options on your scheduling worksheet. • Select 2 electives or 1 pathway block as your first choice! • Please have 3-4 alternates chosen and prioritized! (1-4) • Parents and students may attend 8th Grade Parent Night on Thursday, February 23 from 6:00-7:00in the auditorium. • WJHS Counseling Department staff will visit on March 1 to register you for your classes.
