  2. Connecting Classrooms Project Plan • Norfolk/Xuhui Partnership • Focus the sister schools in Norfolk and Xuhui in a programme of complementary work • Address a wide audience • Strengthen school communities • Opportunity to create greater cultural awareness and understanding of global issues

EXPO 2010 comes to Norfolk • 36 Norfolk schools involved in working with their partner schools • Co-ordinating schools select one of the 8 countries chosen by Chinese colleagues participating in EXPO 2010 • Pupils from Xuhui schools visit EXPO and share information gathered with partner schools about chosen country’s pavilion

EXPO 2010 comes to Norfolk • Research country, pavilion, themes behind it, how it was built and paid for, sponsors’ expectations, its contribution to Better City, Better Life • July 3rd-10th - Norfolk to host visit • 8 pavilions to be exhibited on a float at the Lord Mayor’s procession on July 10th • Exhibition tour to follow across Norfolk

  5. What will this look like for children? • Carnival club • Theme days • Dance/Art • Costumes • Business enterprise • Ecological issues

  6. Who else will be involved? • Local businesses • Norfolk Libraries and Museums • British Council Youth Exchange • Local Chinese communities in Norfolk • colleagues from the Advisory Service (SEAL and ICT teams)

  7. Points to consider…… • Communication - EXPO forum accessible by all schools in the project • Briefing meeting with Xuhui teachers - SEAL funding • What do we need the Chinese students to find out at EXPO? - questions devised by children • Timing – planning from end point back/clarity about outcomes
