Defining Characteristics • Protostomates (the mouth comes before the anus) • Coelom is in segments and filled with liquid (three layers of tissue) • Has segmentation • Hermaphrodites (asexual or sexual reproduction) • Hydroplastic (skeleton is maintained by water pressure) • True digestive tract ie. One long tube • Cerebral ganglia act as the brain • 5 hearts
