  1. PARKINSON DISEASE Is it a neurodegenerative brain disorder that progresses slowly in most people.

  2. Normally there are brain cells in the human brain that produce dopamine, these neurons concentrate in the substancianegra.

  3. Dopamine is a chemical that relays messages between the substancianegra and other parts of the brain to control movements of the human body.

  4. Dopamine helps humans to have smooth coordinated muscle movements. • When the dopamine-producing cells are damaged, and do not produce enough dopamine, the motor symptoms of Parkinson´s disease appear. This process is called neurodegeneration.

  5. The earliest signs of Parkinson´s are found in the enteric nervous system, the medulla and in the olfactory bulb, which controls your sense of smell there is no cure for Parkinson´s disease, therapy is directed at treating the symptoms that are most bothersome to an individual with Parkinson´s disease.

  6. SYMPTOMS

  7. Tremor: This is a rhythmic movement back and forth.Stiffness: It manifests itself as a resistance or lack of muscle flexibility. The muscles tense and contract causing inflexibility and weakness.

  8. Bradykinesia is the loss of spontaneous and automatic movement and leads to slow in all acciones.Inestabilidad: The instability of the position makes patients lean forward or backward and fall off easily.

  9. Depression emotional changes.Swallowing and chewing: are common choking and drooling.Urinary problems: incontinence or have difficulty urinating.ConstipationSleep disorders: sleepiness and nightmares are characteristic of this disease.

  10. Face: expressiveness and appears lost the so-called "fish or face mask,"Akinesia: Consists of a total immobility that appears suddenly and can last from several minutes to an hour.

  11. TREATMENT

  12. Treatment approaches include medication and surgical therapy. • Recent studies have implicates that a treatment is better than no treatment. Medications and therapies may modify the progression of Parkinson´s disease.

  13. Since most symptoms of PD are caused by the lack of dopamine in the brain, many Parkinson´s drugs are aimed at either temporarily replenishing dopamine or mimic the action of dopamine.

  14. These medications generally help reduce muscle rigidity, improve speed and coordination of movement and lessen tremor. LEVO DOPA.

  15. Surgical treatment is reserved for PD patients who have exhausted medical treatment of PD tremor or who suffer profound motor fluctuations.
