  1. Q&A

  2. Documentation (1) • Request for documentation and tutorials (web page) dedicated to analysis: technics and semantics • General Manual • http://aliweb.cern.ch/Offline/AliRoot/Manual.html • Analysis • http://aliweb.cern.ch/Offline/Activities/Analysis/index.html • Reference guide • http://aliceinfo.cern.ch/static/aliroot-new/html/roothtml/ClassIndex.html • Is this sufficient, too much, outdated or hard to find?  • User guide needs to be shorter and updated twice per year • Reference guide need to be auto generated for every release • Are people actually looking for the Cookbook style recipes? • cut/copy/paste examples which could only be sensibly maintained by the PWGs. • Offline can can help in reviewing them and making sure that they are up to date

  3. Documentation (2) • Existing documentation outdated and scattered in many places (protected Twikis or Indico) without coherence • This is an artifact of our overall approach to Web which is very difficult to keep up to date in current outsourcing model • Document the quality and usability for analysis of the reconstructed and MC runs  • Again, this is something that PWGs/PWG-PP has to do and we can provide a placeholder on the Web  (similar to Run Conditions table).

  4. AliRoot & Development • Keep permanently the daily analysis tag • This was discussed yesterday • We can keep daily analysis tag but would like to agree on cleanup policy • Proposal: automatic cleanup after 30 days • AliRoot is too heavy for installation (large root file included) • This will be addressed by splitting AliRoot Core from PWG part • In principle, AliRoot Core (all versions) are and will be available on CVMFS • No installation needed • With OCDB in CVMFS we could remove conditions data from the Git • Prevent commits that break AliRoot • Concerns PWG code which is not validated • Git allows development workflow that assures that such problem does not happen but it requires everyone to follow • https://indico.cern.ch/event/305441/session/7/contribution/51/material/slides/2.pdf
