Proposed Amendments to the OPGGS Environment Regulations Background & Purpose • Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage (Environment) Regulations 2009 • Review (commenced 2012) • Drivers: • Old (1999) Regulations • Montara Commission of Inquiry • Purpose: improve and clarify environmental management regulation • Streamlining offshore environmental approvals

Proposed Amendments to the OPGGS Environment Regulations Next steps: Implementation • NOPSEMA have commenced an update of existing guidance material • New guidance will be developed for key amendments prior to 1 March • Further guidance to be developed on streamlining amendments within 6 months of endorsement, in consultation with DoE • NOPSEMA will hold further stakeholder information sessions throughout the implementation process
