Multiplying Matrices. When multiplying Matrices the columns in the first matrix must match the rows in the second matrix (ORDER IS IMPORTANT!) Multiplication of Matrices is NOT COMMUTATIVE! A 3X5 can multiply with a 5x2 but a 5X2 CANNOT multiply with a 3X5. Multiplying Matrices Steps.

Multiplying Matrices Steps • Check to see if they can multiply: • Columns of first = rows of second • Determine size of resulting matrix: • Rows of first X Columns of second • Multiply each element in the first row by each element in the first column; then add the numbers • Continue doing this for the rest of the Matrix: • ROW times COLUMN
