  1. Dileptons, MET and Jets Production M. Weinberg Weekly UW CMS Meeting - Physics & Trigger

  2. Progress on action items • Data driven methods of QCD, tt background estimation • Look at QCD, tt background reduction • Isolation • Show separate track, ECAL and HCAL isolation • Plots made; will show combined / ECAL isolation plots • For 2D plots use box option • Tried color option instead to see features • Separated leptons into small-pT bins to help study low-pT isolation • Made plots of isolation cut efficiency vs. pT Weekly UW CMS Meeting - Physics & Trigger

  3. Combined isolation distributions • Combined isolation for very low- / low-pT electrons • Very low pT: 5 – 10 GeV; low pT: 25 – 30 GeV • Prompt electrons from LM1; non-prompt / fake electrons from QCD Weekly UW CMS Meeting - Physics & Trigger

  4. ECAL isolation distributions • Combined isolation for very low- / low-pT electrons • Very low pT: 5 – 10 GeV; low pT: 25 – 30 GeV • Prompt electrons from LM1; non-prompt / fake electrons from QCD Weekly UW CMS Meeting - Physics & Trigger

  5. Combined isolation cut efficiency • Eff = N(matched PAT electrons with iso cut) / N(all matched PAT electrons) • Efficiency of “tight” (0.1) / “loose” (0.3) isolation cuts • Prompt electrons from LM1, non-prompt electrons from QCD Weekly UW CMS Meeting - Physics & Trigger

  6. ECAL isolation cut efficiency • Eff = N(matched PAT electrons with iso cut) / N(all matched PAT electrons) • Efficiency of “tight” (0.1) / “loose” (0.3) isolation cuts • Prompt electrons from LM1, non-prompt electrons from QCD Weekly UW CMS Meeting - Physics & Trigger

  7. Electron ET vs. combined isolation • Prompt electrons from LM1; non-prompt / fake electrons from QCD Weekly UW CMS Meeting - Physics & Trigger

  8. Electron ET vs. ECAL isolation • Prompt electrons from LM1; non-prompt / fake electrons from QCD Weekly UW CMS Meeting - Physics & Trigger

  9. Next steps • Create reconstruction efficiencies vs. gen-pT • Reco eff = N(matched PAT electrons) / N(gen electrons) • Make analogous plots for absolute isolation • Start data-driven background estimation Weekly UW CMS Meeting - Physics & Trigger
