  3. Why KCAA Vision, mission and future

  4. Why Art? "The young man who picks up a clarinet or even a paintbrush or a pen is not likely to pick up a needle or a gun: he has better things to do“ - Jane Alexander There have been several recent studies and most recently tax increase proposals that center around the arts.A+ Denver- Citizens for schools (2012 study) was a major reason for bond passage increasing school funding.More than half of the bond allocation went to supporting three areas:- Art- Dance/PE- CTE based classes (All three of these are strong cores for KCAA at all levels of schooling)

  5. Why Creative? KCAA is more than just art, it is creative in the nature which it works. At the heart of all works of art is a core of creativity. While we celebrate First Friday, we also celebrate design. While we treasure our students who are in the all state choir and band, we push forward with their knowledge of understanding sound, design and recording. Colorado ranks in the top 5 states in our country with jobs and employment opportunities in the Creative Arts fields. The jobs continue to grow, pay better and have more people with Post-Secondary degrees than any other field. Study Links CTE To Boys' Survival In High School. The Education Week(3/6, Adams) "College Bound" blog reported, "Making the case for career technical education, researcher James Stone III presented findings today that show enrollment in CTE is a strong predictor of staying in high school-especially for boys. “Above all, we are coming to understand that the arts incarnate the creativity of a free people. When the creative impulse cannot flourish, when it cannot freely select its methods and objects, when it is deprived of spontaneity, then society severs the root of art” - John F. Kennedy

  6. For all elementary students to be taught be teachers who incorporate, infuse and integrate arts • To stay true to the systems of Emilio Reggio at our youngest grades to infuse a love of art with a love of learning • To have all students engage in both Visual and Technical art • To have all students pursue a path by providing choices of dramatic, musical and movement based opportunities • To teach to all students, families and community members that arts and creativity is a pathway to any career in addition to academic and personal success. • To create extended day opportunities for all students to continue and enjoy arts even outside the school day. The K-5 vision…

  7. For all MS students to be able to openly and honestly express themselves through the art form of their choice. • To increase options for MS students in a variety of arts endeavors • To incorporate all exploratory arts events in graduated tiers of difficulty • To provide sound instructional systems to help students achieve academically • To create opportunities for students to understand the collaboration of art and academics • To not only explore but enhance the skills of the technical, dramatic, musical, visual, literal and movement basis of all art forms. The 6-8 vision…

  8. For all HS students to be prepared for any Post-Secondary endeavor they encounter. The real test is success in life. • To provide students with an opportunity to attend College-Level classes while in HS. • To provide students with directed Pathways to obtain college level credit work in arts fields of their choice • To provide HS students with the most updated components of technology and relate its relevance back to the infusion of creativity • To graduate 100% of all students and have 100% of all students in a post-secondary field of study. The 9-12 vision…
