  2. Statement of Theory • The Soviet Union was behind the assassination of JFK. They brain washed and trained Lee Harvey Oswald, used him as a pawn, and made him hate America. • People say that Oswald was not responsible for the shooting, but instead it was the KGB’s influence.

  3. Motive • Revenge- The Soviets wanted to gain revenge for the humiliation of the USSR in the 1962 Cuban missile crisis. • Kennedy had severely embarrassed the Soviets in Cuba • Their hope was to remove focus on the Soviet Union

  4. Lee Harvey Oswald • Oswald was an American citizen who studied socialist principles and persuaded people to join the Communist Party • He then joined the Marines and in 1959 he became the first Marine to defect to the Soviet Union

  5. Lee Harvey Oswald • As a Marine Corps radar operator, Oswald possessed clues to the flight altitude of the American U-2 spy plane. • It was no accident, therefore, that the Soviet Union shot down a U-2 spy plane in 1960. • This act proved Oswald to be a loyal Communist

Lee Harvey Oswald • In Moscow he said, “I affirm that my allegiance to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.” • He publically renounced his American citizenship and told the US consul that he would share US military secrets with the Soviet Union • Oswald was now completely dependent on the Soviets for financial support, legal status, and protection

  7. Evidence Lee Harvey Oswald • “I want you to understand what I say now.... In the event of war I would kill any American who put a uniform on in defense of the American Government--, Any American.” • Oswald wrote of his willingness to commit murder for a political cause. • The CIA intercepted this letter but did not pay attention to the threat it posed.

  8. Evidence Lee Harvey Oswald • Oswald was framed by KGB operatives • He desperately wanted to be the perfect Marxist revolutionary so the Soviets used that desire to manipulate Oswald

Evidence Mary Pinchot Meyer • JFK’s “senior” girlfriend during his presidency • She was the ex-wife of a CIA agent • She was shot a year after the assassination of JFK by a contract killer hired by the KGB • Her ex-husband, Cory Meyer, claimed that she was killed by the same people who killed JFK • The KGB wanted her dead because she was associated with JFK

Conclusion KGB’s Agenda • The KGB wanted to get revenge on the US for the Cuban missile crisis • They trained Oswald to be the perfect KGB operative • Provided him with rifle practice and other training • They deliberately neglected to warn the Americans of a likely upcoming assassination attempt.

  11. Conclusion • JFK’s senior girlfriend was later assassinated by the KGB • Soviets arranged for Jack Ruby’s murder of Oswald two days after the Kennedy assassination, they likely killed Ruby with a poison at the time when it appeared he might become available to talk with reporters.
