SOUND WAVES. Experiment. We placed the three glasses in a row. Filled the first glass about two-thirds full with water. Filled the second glass about two-thirds full with the ice cubes. Left the third glass empty. Tapped the empty glass by giving it a flick with your finger. . Video1.

  5. Tapped the empty glass by giving it a flick with your finger.

  7. Tapped the glass that has the water in it.

  8. Tapped the glass with the ice cubes in it.

  9. To demonstrate how the sound is traveling , we tapped our glasses, and used the slinky by stretching it out and give one end a push or shake.

  10. The wave that travels the slinky from one end to the other demonstrates a "longitudinal wave", which demonstrates how sound travels.
