  2. A. Meaning of sealed scroll: 1. Hanameel decided to sell his land to Jeremiah. 2. It would be preserved for his heirs. a) Title deed was made out and the transaction completed.

  3. b) Deed was rolled up into a scroll and sealed! • c) Not fully consumated until owner came forth. • (a) 70 years! • B. Psalm 24:1 • 1. In the text before us this morning:

  4. a) Time for the Lord to redeem all that was His. (1) satan doesn't hold the title deed! (2) This "scroll" is the title deed to the earth!! (3) Rightful owner to take possession! III. REVELATION 5:2-3

  5. A. Romans 3:10a 1. No one qualified to even look at it! a) Apostle John standing in heaven at this point. b) In the company of a host of angels! (1) Belongs to only One Person!

  6. REVELATION 5:4 • A. “So I shed a tear..” • 1. Weeps uncontrollably! • a) Do you know why? • (1) Lack of fulfillment of the promises of God! • (2) satan would still have control of earth!

  7. (3) Millions more would die without Jesus! (a) More than John could bear. V.REVELATION 5:5 A. Genesis 49:8-10 B. Hebrews 7:14a

  8. C. Luke 1:32-33 • 1. Jesus arises from the throne to open the scroll and reign over the earth! • a) Colossians 2:14-15 • (1) Jesus alone has earned the right to open the scroll.

  9. VI. REVELATION 5:6-7 • A. John sees Him as a Lamb – slain! • 1. John 1:29 • a) John knew who this was!! • B. 7 horns and the 7 eyes?

  10. 1. “power”, “authority” and “a call to battle”. 2. #7 signifies completion! a) Lamb having “complete power”, “complete authority”! (1) Joshua 6:4 (a) Victory in Him! (b) 7 horns = Omnipotence!

  11. C. 7 eyes? 1. Symbolic of Holy Spirit: 2. Matthew 6:22 a) John 1:29 b) John 9:5 (1) 7 eyes=omniscience (a) The Lamb – slain – is worthy to open the scroll!

  12. VII. REVELATION 5:8-10 A. 24 elders singing and praising the Lamb of God! 1. Represent all the saints before the throne. a) Seen each other there?

  13. (1) Psalm 141:2 (2) Offering of praise? (a) Pray a bit more? VIII. REVELATION 5:11-12 A. Ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands!

  14. 1. Verse 12 • a) None doubt that Jesus is worthy to open the scroll! • CONCLUSION • A. Revelation 5:13-14 • 1. Every creature can talk!

  15. a) Jesus seems to be a good enough reason.
