  2. What is WordChamp? • Tool for reading text without a dictionary • Definition/translation of vocabulary words • Pronunciation of words in the target language • Edit feature for adding translations • WordChamp

  3. Web Reader • Choose a language to read and hear • Choose a language for definition • Choose something to read • Input the URL and click “Read” • Click “Text” and cut and paste your text into the window. Click “Read” • FAZ.net

  4. Read any foreign newspaper • The text appears within the WordChamp frame • Set the languages, i.e. from German to English • When you slide the mouse over a word, a pop-up with the translation and pronunciation appears

  5. What can students do? • Students can use WordChamp without joining a class • Students create their own page • Do various drills • Keep track of their learning

  6. Verb conjugation drill • This example shows how learners of German practice the conjugation of verbs in the present perfect tense.

  8. Is there a Fee? • The fee for a student to enroll in a class and access homework is US $12.50. This gives a student access to a class and its homework for up to six months. This fee allows us to continue improving and maintaining WordChamp. • NOTE: These fees relate only to the WordChamp Course Management features. To see other features and services available, please go to our features page. • Kindergarten through 12th Grade • Enrollment fees are waived for students in K-12 classes. • There are NO fees for teachers to use Course Management.
